James F. Jette, of Stoughton, allegedly pinned his partner against that wall and put his hand around her neck after they got into an argument over a broken flower pot, the outlet reports.

Jette was arraigned on one count of assault and battery on a family or household member in Stoughton District Court on May 27, the outlet reports.

He pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance, the outlet reports. The Milton School Committee voted to place Jette on leave after hearing the news.

"Due to the nature of the pending legal matter, it is not appropriate for the School Committee to comment on the specific allegations," Milton School Committee Chair Ada Rosmarin said in a statement,

"While we understand that the preliminary information which has been shared is troubling, we also ask for our community’s patience as this process continues and request that you continue to respect the privacy rights of all involved in this matter."
